Mrs. Shirley Eades Fleming, 67, of Apalachicola, died Friday, June 7, 2019 at Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee. Her husband Wayne was by her side at the time of her passing.
Shirley was born in Atlanta, Georgia on April 17, 1952. She lived and worked for many years in Atlanta and in Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Apalachicola in 2016.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Wayne Fleming; her stepsons, Brandon and Christopher Fleming; goddaughter, Emma Coleman; grandchildren Caleb, Colin, Makayla, and Madison Fleming; brother Michael Eades; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father Charles Eades, and mother Emma Roberts Eades.
After retirement from a long career in telecommunications, Shirley pursued a second career in elementary education and taught school for several years. She loved music and played piano at her church. She was kind, loving, and generous and was beloved by everyone who knew her. She will be missed.
Shirley’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 12 at the First United Methodist Church in Apalachicola. Interment will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service. The Rev Dr. Themistocies “Themo” Patriotis will be officiating. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial gifts can be made to Big Bend Hospice, 1723 Mahan Center Blvd, Tallahassee, FL 32308.
